About

This is TheGreenCodes - a space where engineering decisions get written down honestly.
You'll find articles on distributed systems, infrastructure platforms, and the problems that appear when standard architectures meet non-standard constraints: air-gapped deployments, licensed software distribution, multi-tenant IaaS, event-driven systems at the edges where documentation runs out. Occasionally, research. Sometimes the African context that reframes what "production-ready" actually means.
The writing is for engineers who've moved past tutorials and want to understand why a decision was made - and what it cost.
Who's writing this
I'm Marvin - a Senior Platform & Backend Engineer.
I build distributed systems that turn infrastructure complexity into products. Recent work includes a hypervisor-agnostic IaaS marketplace, a Flatcar Linux-based infrastructure solution for immutable and air-gapped enterprise deployments, and event-driven backend systems running across multi-tenant environments.
I'm also doing graduate research on geospatial modeling of Foot and Mouth Disease in Kenya - a different kind of systems problem.
I care more about outcomes than technology fashion. You will find that bias in the writing.
